A hallmark of Arts and Crafts style, quartersawn white oak floors expose the medullary rays and “fleck” in the wood grain. Quarter and rift sawn oak flooring has radial and vertical grain instead of tangential grain. This gives the planks a completely different appearance from the cathedral grain of our plainsawn oak floors, and it provides additional stability, making quarter and rift sawn floors ideal for use in particularly demanding installations.
Quarter sawn floors are generally available in widths of 3-6″ wide. If you are looking for very wide floors with some vertical grain, you may like our live sawn natural character grade floors, which are available in wider widths up to 12 inches.
