Description

Betula Lenta.

Birch is a fine-grained wood known for its satin-like sheen.  Birch sometimes exhibits ripple figuring, similar to Curly or Tiger Maple, and then it is known as “Curly Birch”.   Flame birch is another name for the figure that sometimes appears in Birch.

We mill our wide plank Birch floors from northern Birch trees that have a creamy white sapwood and warm yellow to brownish-red heartwood.  When we’re sawing Birch, it smells wonderfully minty in the mill–Black Birch, also known as Sweet Birch, was once the source for commercial oil of wintergreen.

Birch is a hardwood with excellent impact resistance, ideal for any area of your home.
