Our Sawmill Began in a Backyard Hull Forest Products began in a backyard in Rhode Island when company founder William Boston Hull was a teenager. Hull showed an early affinity for trees: at age 15 he borrowed the money to purchase his first woodlot—twelve acres of hardwoods. Taking his passion for trees to the University of New Hampshire, Hull earned a degree in Forestry, then got his start in the lumber business on an old fashioned circular sawmill, sawing white oak into whiskey barrel staves. Sustainable Forest Products with Worldwide Distribution In 1970 Hull incorporated and moved to Pomfret, Connecticut. His tiny operation grew into the largest sawmill in southern New England. Now in business over 40 years, Hull Forest Products manufactures 10 million board feet of lumber annually for use around the globe, including wide plank flooring, oak timbers, wood siding, green and kiln dried lumber, as well as by-products such as wood chips, sawdust, and bark mulch. Hull Forest Products is certified to FSC standards by Scientific Certification Systems. Our certification code is SCS-COC-002641. An Industry Leader in Forest Management and Conservation For over 40 years, Hull Forest Products has provided award-winning forest management services for public and private landowners in southern New England.
