White Oak. Quercus Alba.
Select grade White Oak wide plank flooring from Hull Forest Products is grown in New England and has a tight, prominent grain that is 83 to 100 percent clear (occasional knots only), showing off the long rays and beautiful grain of this species.
Paler than Red Oak, White Oak also has longer and more pronounced rays in the grain. White Oak's undertones run from gray to brown and like all Oak it takes stain beautifully. White Oak floors work with both traditional and contemporary homes. Renowned for its resistance to rot and insect damage, White Oak has traditionally been used in barrel making and for the aging of whiskey and wine, since the tannins in the wood impart subtle flavor.
