White Oak. Quercus Alba.
Hand selected for the character only nature can provide, Hull White Oak wide plank flooring in the natural grade has naturally occuring knots, and markings that express the uniqueness of live wood. Available in widths from 3 to 18 inches. Planks are long as well as wide. The average plank length is at least 8 feet.
White Oak flooring is characterized by brown undertones, long rays, and prominent straight grain. White Oak floors take stain well so a variety of finish tones and techniques, from bleached oak to dark espresso, can be acheived.
White Oak makes exceptionally durable wood flooring and holds up well in high-traffic areas.
Here in New England our White Oak makes ideal character flooring because of its tendency for epicormic branching, in which latent buds sprout easily into twigs on the tree trunk, leaving lots of pin knots behind in the wood. Natural White Oak also has occasional mineral streak (a narrow darkened area running parallel with the grain caused by minerals the tree extracted from the soil when it was growing) which adds a nice color variation.
