Red Maple. Acer Rubrum.
Premiuim Red Maple wide plank flooring has a mix of heartwood and sapwood in the planks. Milled from 1 Common and Better Red Maple, these planks have occasional knots and character marks. This style is a very popular choice for country interiors. Available in 3 to 8 inch widths. 95 percent of the planks in each flooring order are 8 feet in length or longer.

Red Maple’s properties are similar to that of Sugar Maple. The sapwood is grayish white and the heartwood is brown. It makes a very durable floor.
Maple trees have dark colored heartwood and pale colored sapwood. Some folks prefer the light colored sapwood, while others like the color variation produced by the combination of sapwood and heartwood.
