The character markings found in this natural grade of wide plank Cherry give the floor a homespun, less formal look. Planks range from pale to deep red and may feature unique and occasional knots, pitch pocket, bird peck, or cat's paw markings (a cluster of tiny knots sometimes found in Cherry wood which resembles a cat's paw).
Like all objects of quality, Cherry develops a patina with age; the wood’s color darkens slightly, giving your cherry floor an heirloom quality. The photosensitivity of Cherry is most dramatic in the first year of exposure to light. Please note that using area rugs, unless they are rotated frequently, can result in uneven darkening of your Cherry floor.
Natural grade Cherry floors have frequent knots and character marks surrounded by a good portion of clear grain as well. This floor is 33 to 66 percent clear and contains both large and small knots and may contain some partially broken knots or minor inclusions.
