Working In The Woods |
|
At Hull Forest Products, the loggers who harvest the timber that becomes your wide plank floor or post and beam home are highly skilled woodsmen ranging from part-time horse loggers to full-time mechanized logging crews. Together with our foresters, they work to bring you sustainably harvested wood. HFP contractor Paul Burke of Dayville, CT won the 2006 National Game of Logging Championship for his skills in precision felling, limbing, bucking, precision bore cutting, and spring-pole chopping. Paul has also completed the Southern New England Master Logger Program. HFP contractor Lee Baxter of Harmony, RI, a logger and tree farmer, won the Rhode Island Forest Conservators "Friend of the Forest" award for his exceptional woods work, harvesting timber in a manner that protects and enhances the value of the forest. Lee has also completed the Master Logger Program. In 2007 Lee was lauded for his outstanding harvesting work in the Yale University School Forest. What's great about our woods professionals: Read testimonials from forestland owners. . .
We actively encourage our logging professionals to complete the Southern New England Master Logger certification program. Master Loggers must meet or exceed over 100 performance standards in the areas of water quality protection, support for forest ecosystems, maintaining soil productivity, managing visual impacts, and ethical business practices. Interviews, references, multiple job inspections from trained field verifiers, and a certifying board review are all part of the rigorous process of becoming certified as a Master Logger. |
